As of February 2026, Disney has not implemented a blanket increase in height requirements for its existing attractions. Height requirements are determined by the ride manufacturer and Disney's safety engineers based on the physical constraints of the restraint systems (lap bars, over-the-shoulder harnesses, etc.). For example, the requirement for Space Mountain remains 40 inches, and Avatar Flight of Passage remains 44 inches. However, the "perception" of an increase often comes from the opening of new, high-thrill attractions that naturally carry higher requirements. For instance, TRON Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind both have a 48-inch requirement, which is higher than many older "classic" rides. Additionally, Disney has become much more stringent with their "double-check" measurements at the front of the line and at the ride vehicle to ensure absolute safety. While the rules for a specific old ride haven't changed, the "average" height needed to see everything in a park has effectively risen because the newest, most popular E-ticket attractions are designed with more intense physical forces that require larger, more secure rider profiles.
