Do all family members need the Disney app?

Each person in your family does not need a separate My Disney Experience account but should be included on your account for easy planning. If you need to add your spouse or kids, sign into your My Disney Experience account. Choose Family & Friends then go to the bottom where you have the option to Add a Guest.

No, it is not mandatory for every family member to have the My Disney Experience (WDW) or Disneyland App on their own device, though it is highly recommended for adults. In 2026, one person—the "lead planner"—can manage the entire group's tickets, dining reservations, and Lightning Lane selections (via the Genie+ successor) from a single phone. This person simply links all family members under their "Family & Friends" list. However, if the group plans to split up, those going off on their own will need the app to access their digital tickets or make their own ride reservations. For children or elderly guests, the lead planner can even use Disney MagicMobile to add everyone's tickets to a single Apple or Google Wallet, allowing the family to enter the park by scanning one phone multiple times. While one app is sufficient for logistics, having multiple people with the app allows for "divided labor," such as one person mobile-ordering lunch while another checks wait times for a nearby attraction.

Julia, one of the great things about the My Disney Experience app is that while each member traveling with you (ages 13 and older) can choose to use the app with their own My Disney Experience account, they don't have to.

Make sure that both of you have your own My Disney Experience accounts, have downloaded the My Disney Experience mobile app, and have connected with each other (ensuring that you are sharing plans). This will allow both of you to make reservations from your individual devices and accounts for your travel party.

Is your group meeting up at a specific location? You can use the map to get detailed instructions on where to go. Although it is not necessary, I do highly suggest that your whole party downloads the mobile app!

While account sharing is not allowed by Disney, that doesn't mean you aren't allowed to set up separate profiles inside of your household. Your home can use the same account and share it across separate user profiles. Being able to stream across four devices at once substantially helps.
