Do annual passholders pay for Genie Plus?

As an Annual Passholder, you will purchase the Disney Genie+ Service one day at a time. Annual Passholders don't currently have the ability to purchase the Disney Genie+ Service in advance, so you will simply purchase Genie+ on the day of your visit for any day you choose to use it.

As of early 2026, Disney has replaced "Genie Plus" with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system, and Annual Passholders must still pay for it on a daily basis if they wish to use it. There is no "annual" add-on for Lightning Lane access. Passholders can purchase the Multi Pass starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time three days before their visit. The price is dynamic and fluctuates based on expected park attendance, often ranging from $18 to $35 per day. While passholders receive various perks like discounts on food and merchandise, the ability to "skip the lines" remains an additional daily expense. A new "premier" option introduced for 2026, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, is also available to passholders at a much higher price point (often $300+) for those who want one-time entry to every Lightning Lane attraction in a park without needing to make reservations or wait for return windows.

Yes, annual passholders do have to pay for Genie+ if they want to use it on a given day.

Here are the key details:

  • It’s a separate, daily purchase: Genie+ is not included with any annual pass (Disneyland’s Magic Key or Walt Disney World’s Annual Pass). It must be purchased each day you wish to use it, at the current daily price.
  • Price is the same: Passholders pay the same variable daily price for Genie+ as regular ticket holders. The price fluctuates based on demand and the park/date.
  • How to purchase: Passholders can buy Genie+ through the My Disney Experience (Walt Disney World) or Disneyland app on the morning of their visit, starting at 12:00 AM (midnight). It’s often recommended to purchase as early as possible, as prices can rise and it can sell out on very busy days.
  • Individual Lightning Lane purchases: This also applies to Individual Lightning Lane selections (for the most popular rides like Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Rise of the Resistance, etc.). These are separate, à la carte purchases that are not included with the pass.

In short: Think of Genie+ as a daily “upgrade” to your park day, regardless of whether you’re using a single-day ticket or an annual pass. The pass grants you park admission, but Genie+ is an add-on service with its own fee.
