Do I need an international drivers license to rent a car in Madeira?

The driving licence must have been issued by the authorised authorities at least 1 year(s) prior to the date of the start of the rental. A driving license printed with a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be supplemented by an international driving licence.
