At Walt Disney World, children under the age of 3 are considered "guests of Mickey" and do not require a theme park ticket or a park reservation. Consequently, they do not "need" a MagicBand, as there is no digital ticket or Lightning Lane pass to link to it. For toddlers in this age group, a MagicBand would serve no functional purpose for park entry or ride access. However, many parents choose to buy one for their little ones anyway, simply so the child feels included when the rest of the family "taps" into the park or at a photo location. While it’s a fun accessory, it is not a requirement for them to enter the parks or to use Disney's transportation systems. It is also worth noting that if you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, a child under 3 is included on the room reservation, but they still don't need a band to open the door—parents can handle that. If you do decide to get one for a toddler, keep in mind that the standard MagicBand 2 and MagicBand+ have a "tear-away" outer ring that makes the band smaller to fit tiny wrists. Ultimately, saving the $35 to $45 on a band for a two-year-old is a common way for parents to trim their Disney budget without missing out on any actual utility.
