Do they drug test at Disneyland?

Because there is some misinformation here, let me try to clarify: Disney absolutely WILL administer a pre-employment drug test for anyone who is cast in a safety critical role. This includes roles such as attractions, lifeguard, etc.

At Disneyland and Walt Disney World, drug testing policies are primarily focused on the Cast Members (employees) rather than the guests. Disney maintains a "Drug-Free Workplace" and requires mandatory drug testing for any safety-sensitive roles, such as ride operators, monorail pilots, bus drivers, and security personnel. Additionally, all new hires in these categories must pass a pre-employment drug screen. For general guests, there is no "entry-level" drug testing; however, Disney security is extremely high-tech in 2026, utilizing vapor-wake dogs and advanced sensors at the "no-bag" lines to detect illicit substances. If a guest is found to be visibly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs inside the park, they will be escorted out and may face a permanent trespass ban. While recreational marijuana is legal in many U.S. states, it remains strictly prohibited on all Disney property, including the resorts and Disney Springs. Disney’s policy is rooted in maintaining a "family-friendly" environment where the safety of thousands of children is the priority, so any behavior suggesting impairment will result in immediate intervention by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office or Disney Security.
