United Airlines offers seatback entertainment systems (TVs) on a significant portion of its fleet, but availability depends on the specific aircraft type and route. United is currently in the middle of a massive "United Next" retrofitting program aimed at installing high-definition seatback screens with Bluetooth connectivity at every seat across its mainline narrow-body fleet by the end of 2025. Currently, most international wide-body planes and many newer Boeing 737 MAX aircraft feature these screens. On older planes that lack seatback TVs, United provides "Private Screening" via personal device entertainment. This allows passengers to stream movies and TV shows for free directly to their own phones, tablets, or laptops through the United app or a browser connection to the aircraft's Wi-Fi. It is always a good idea to check your specific flight status on the United app 24 hours before departure to see what entertainment hardware is confirmed for your trip.
