Do you get a meal on Hawaii flight?

We're proud of the distinct in-flight dining experience we offer our guests. Hawaiian Airlines takes in-flight meals to a whole new level thanks to our award-winning executive chefs. We offer exquisite, island-inspired meals created by MW Restaurant Executive Chefs, Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr- Ueoka.

Whether you get a meal on a flight to Hawaii in 2026 depends entirely on the airline and the cabin you have booked. Hawaiian Airlines is unique in that it still provides complimentary meals to all passengers (including Economy) on most long-haul flights from the mainland. However, as of March 2026, United Airlines has shifted to a "Preorder Only" model for Economy fresh meals on Hawaii routes; if you don't order at least 24 hours in advance, you will be limited to packaged snacks. Delta and American Airlines generally provide complimentary meals on "long-haul" flights (typically from the East Coast or Midwest), while flights from the West Coast (LAX, SFO) may only offer "Buy on Board" options in the Main Cabin. Southwest Airlines does not offer any meal service at all on their Hawaii flights, providing only basic snacks and drinks regardless of the flight length. It is a high-value peer tip to check your specific itinerary in the airline app five days before departure to see if you need to reserve a meal.
