Do you get wet on Blazing Fury Dollywood?

If you're not in the mood to get even wetter, Blazing Fury is a fun indoor coaster that will help dry your clothes while you get your thrills in.

In 2026, the short answer is no, you no longer get wet on Blazing Fury. For decades, this classic indoor "dark ride" coaster at Dollywood ended with a splashdown into a water tank to "put out the fire." However, during a major multi-year refurbishment and partial rebuild of the ride completed recently, the water splashdown was permanently replaced with a magnetic braking system. While the ride still features the same "burning town" storyline and the iconic drop into the darkness, the physical water element has been removed to preserve the vintage wooden structure and the new high-tech ride vehicles from moisture damage. Some "mist" effects are still used during the scene to simulate steam, but riders will not experience a "soaking" or even a "sprinkling" like they would on a traditional log flume. This change has made the ride much more comfortable for guests during the cooler Smoky Mountain months, though nostalgic fans often miss the literal "splash" ending that defined the ride for over 40 years.
