Do you have to dress up for Vegas restaurants?

There are two types of dining in Vegas: casual and fine dining. You might be sensing a theme here, but during the day it's completely normal to wear something very high on the casual scale. Walk right on into a hotel buffet or street side restaurant in your sightseeing clothes and you won't have any problems.

Every single nightclub and ultra lounge in Las Vegas will enforce a dress code at the entrance, and they are all pretty similar with some exceptions. Girls can almost get away with anything they want; however, we have seen instances where flip flop sandals were looked down upon.

Gone are the days of the “Suit and Tie/Cocktail Dress” dress code for a casino. Today, just about anything goes, at least at most casinos. When you just can't decide what to wear out in Vegas, an LBD (little black dress) amped up with some accessories is a classic start for a great night out. Keep in mind that the dance floor will get hot and crowded.

As others have said, only the truly upscale restaurants have any type of dress code. Your shorts will be no problem anywhere on the strip during the mid-day and in most places for the evening. I wear shorts almost exclusively while in Vegas and have never had a problem or even a second look.

Casual clothing is perfectly fine for even the most luxurious casinos, as long as players dress up decently. You can go to any Las Vegas casino wearing shirts and trousers and nobody will frown upon your attire.

Tipping is $1-$2 per person per nite at a regular hotel; up to $5 per person per nite at a luxury hotel, which the Bellagio is. Tipping the concierge is not an expectation, but I'm sure is appreciated.
