You do not have to pay a separate "ride fee" for the Hogwarts Express at Universal Orlando Resort, but you must possess a Park-to-Park ticket to ride it. Because the train travels between two different theme parks—Universal Studios Florida (Diagon Alley) and Islands of Adventure (Hogsmeade)—it serves as a functional transport link. A standard single-park ticket will not grant you access to the attraction. If you have a "Base" (one park per day) ticket, you will be turned away at the entrance to the train station. In 2026, the price difference to upgrade from a Base ticket to a Park-to-Park ticket is typically around $60 per person. For many Harry Potter fans, this extra cost is considered essential, as the ride experience is different in each direction and includes unique digital storytelling and animatronic effects. Additionally, having the Park-to-Park ticket allows you to visit the new Ministry of Magic land at Epic Universe (opened May 2025), though the Hogwarts Express itself does not currently connect to that third park.
