In 2026, Disney's "Lightning Lane" is a pay-per-use or daily-fee service, meaning there is no longer a free "FastPass" equivalent. You do not have to pay every time you visit the park—every ride still offers a free standby line—but if you want to use the skip-the-line feature, you must pay the variable daily or per-ride price. Prices fluctuate based on park demand, meaning a Tuesday in February will be cheaper than a Saturday in July.

You can purchase Genie+ day by day on each day of your trip using the My Disney Experience app. Genie+ is available for purchase when the clock strikes midnight on the day of your visit, but you don't need to stay up late (instead, just wake up about 15 minutes early to secure it before the 7 a.m. selection process).

Genie Plus is definitely worth it for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and if you don't like early starts, you might consider it for Epcot and Animal Kingdom. If you are park hopping, Genie+ is even better value as it maximises the number of rides you have access to.
