Do you lose status if you use miles?

Redeeming miles will not downgrade your status. It'll simply mean that you're not earning miles towards the next tier. Any status you have earned will not be impacted if you redeem miles.

Standard Miles & More members retain validity for 36 months, after which they expire. Status miles can only be earned when flying on fully integrated partner airlines or Star Alliance members. There is no other way to earn these miles.
