Do you need a car in York?

Definitely don't need a car. Most of York centre is pedestrainised or taxi/buses only during the day. PLus parking is a nightmare as already said. I live on the edge of the city and about a 10/15 walk from everything in the city.

We control the times when vehicles can access York city centre, in order to create additional space for pedestrians, and to provide opportunities for businesses to expand into the highway and public spaces. Currently, the pedestrian zone footstreet hours are between 10.30am and 5.00pm, 7 days a week.
