Do you need a permit to camp at Sequoia?

Travelers can experience Sequoia and Kings Canyon wilderness by taking a scenic drive or day hike, or planning an overnight backpacking or horseback pack trip. All overnight visitors entering the local wilderness are required to hold a permit (not day hikers).

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks charge an entrance fee whenever park entrances are open. Reservations are not accepted or required. The entrance fee amount varies depending on how a visitor arrives at the park, and whether they are part of a commercial tour group or not.

Persons otherwise permitted to possess firearms (in general) may possess a concealed firearm with a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm (CCW) from California.
