You can probably get away with going barefoot, but a hot pavement may make you wish for something on your feet. Sandals or Flip Flops are a good option for slipping on and off as you need. You won't wear them in the lazy river, but can throw them on to make a trip to the bathroom or concession stand.
Near the Mayan Temple Pool there is a Hospitality Center with lockers to rent in various sizes with rates starting around $7/day. Aquaventure is completely cashless; your room key or credit card is needed for all purchases including lockers.
Be sure to wear your flip-flops – or better yet, wear pool shoes if you have them – so that you don't have to run across the hot floor after each slide or ride has finished. Lastly, if you have younger children, it is worth checking out the Splashers Childrens Play Area.
