Too wildly imaginative and expansive to be contained by any one theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ™ is split between Diagon Alley ™ at Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade ™ at Universal Islands of Adventure, with the Hogwarts ™ Express connecting the two.
The only ticket that will allow guests to visit both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in the same day is the Universal Orlando park-to-park ticket. It's important to note that this is also the only ticket which will allow guests to ride the Hogwarts express!
Both Orlando and Hollywood offer guests an engaging Wizarding World experience. However, Universal Orlando logistically has more to provide in the way of themed options for visitors to explore. Thus, travelers with time to spare wanting a comprehensive Harry Potter experience will find it at Universal Orlando.
The main reason is this is the only way to make sure you see absolutely everything that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has to offer. The other main reason we think the Hogwarts Express is worth it is that it's a convenient way to travel between the two parks and you can enjoy a different experience both ways.
Overall we would always lean towards Hogsmeade for early park admission. The main reason is Hogsmeade is home to two of the most popular rides at Universal: Hagrids Magical Motorbike Adventure and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
And as you can imagine there are so many amazing things to do in each section, you should give yourself at least two days to experience everything the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has to offer.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter CostWizarding World Tickets- Park to Park. $100- $170/per person, per day. Express Passes. $80- $100/ per person, per day.
Do I Need A Separate Admission Ticket For The Wizarding World? No, a standard Universal theme park ticket will admit you into the Wizarding World. To experience both lands on one day or ride the Hogwarts Express you will need a two-park ticket.
We highly recommend getting a Universal Express Pass. There is also a Single Riders line available for both rides. And again, there is a special area to enter if you just want to walk through the castle without waiting in the full ride line.
We learned from a Universal employee that it takes 35 minutes to leave Diagon Alley, exit the park, enter Islands of Adventure and walk to Hogwarts. So if the wait is 40 minutes for the Hogwarts Express (and your kids can handle the hike) don't take the train. You'll save time just walking around.
Once you choose a park, whether Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, or Volcano Bay, you can not go to any other park that day. On the other hand, park to park tickets will grant you access to two or three parks in a day, depending on your ticket type.
Keep in mind that we strongly recommend to plan on going first thing in the morning and again late in the evening; The Wizarding World of Harry Potter lights up at night, and it's spectacular. (If you'd like to see more pictures of the Wizarding World at night, check out the photo gallery below!)
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Hollywood is great for a concise getaway, but ultimately, nothing beats Universal Orlando when it comes to the full magical experience. Those looking to enjoy the best of all the flavor, fun, and attractions will want to head to Orlando to find it.
Universal Orlando Resort has the larger of the two Wizarding World of Harry Potter locations, spread out over two theme parks. Hogsmeade is located in Islands of Adventure. Diagon Alley is located in Universal Studios Florida.
