Do you sit side by side on Space Mountain?

Space Mountain Guests are seated front to back, rather than side to side.

Whether you sit side by side on Space Mountain depends entirely on which Disney park you are visiting. At Walt Disney World (Magic Kingdom in Florida), the ride vehicles feature single-file seating. Each "rocket" holds three passengers in a row, one behind the other, so you are sitting solo in your own seat. This configuration creates a more intimate, narrow feel as you zip through the dark. In contrast, at Disneyland (California) and Disneyland Paris, the ride vehicles are designed with side-by-side seating. In these versions, each row holds two passengers next to each other, similar to a standard roller coaster. If you are traveling as a pair and want to scream right next to your partner, the California or Paris versions are the way to go, whereas the Florida original offers a classic "bobsled-style" experience where you'll have to shout to the person behind or in front of you.

EE has a faster top speed and more thrilling drops, and theres that backwards portion. The view from the top is great also. Space is a fun coaster in complete darkness but EE still holds more thrills for me ... even with a bad Yeti component.

It is a thrill ride, but it's probably only scary for those who are sensitive to the dark. Keep in mind, though, the ride can be jerky, meaning that you could feel like your bones are shaking within your skin at certain times.

It's a fun ride, don't get me wrong, but it's far less intense than the original. There's maybe one good drop on the ride; it focuses mainly on helixes the whole ride. It's impeccably smooth, but it doesn't have the same thrill factor as the original IMO.

Space Mountain (coaster with rough, tight turns): It also isn't nearly as short as Seven Dwarfs, and I've often found myself regretting riding it only halfway through. The combination of rough movement and low lighting can make it difficult to anticipate turns and drops, potentially leading to motion sickness.

There are no long drops or swooping hills as there are on a traditional roller coaster - only quick, unexpected turns and small drops. The most surprising thing about Space Mountain is its aesthetic beauty. No, we're not kidding.

Even with all the newer rides, Space Mountain is still a must do. Space Mountain is one of our favorite rides in Disneyland and we were excited to see if the one in Magic Kingdom was the same. It is not! The ride is still a fast roller coaster in the dark but a major thing that is missing in this one is the music.
