If you currently hold hotel elite status with Marriott Bonvoy, IHG Rewards Club, World of Hyatt, Best Western Rewards or Choice Privileges, you are eligible to apply for a status match.



In 2026, Marriott Bonvoy does not offer a direct "Status Match" for Hilton Honors members, but they do offer a "Status Challenge." Unlike a match (which is an instant upgrade), the challenge requires you to prove your elite status with Hilton and then stay a specific number of nights within a 90-day period. Typically, you can earn Bonvoy Gold by staying 8 nights or Bonvoy Platinum by staying 16 nights. Conversely, Hilton Honors is much more aggressive with "matching"; they will often grant you instant Gold status for 90 days if you show proof of your Marriott Bonvoy status. To maintain it, you only need to stay 8 nights (for Gold) or 14 nights (for Diamond) during that trial. For 2026 travelers, the "Hilton Match" is the faster way to get elite perks, while the "Marriott Challenge" is a longer-term commitment to switching loyalty programs.
