Does clear give you a known traveler number?

For Clear, there is no in-person interview, but then again, the benefits are quite different. Once approved, you will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that you would add to any airline frequent flier profile you have so that you can use the benefits of TSA PreCheck on any eligible airline tickets.

Your KTN is helpful when traveling because it's your key to access the TSA PreCheck lanes; these lanes typically have shorter wait times and allow members to undergo a less intrusive screening process than the standard lanes.

It costs $78 to apply for TSA PreCheck or $100 to apply for Global Entry (which includes TSA PreCheck, if approved). If you apply for TSA PreCheck first, you will have to pay another fee for Global Entry if you decide to apply later.

Travelers cannot upgrade from TSA PreCheck to Global Entry
A main reason is that the programs have distinct purposes. TSA PreCheck can help travelers pass through airport security checkpoints. Meanwhile, Global Entry is specifically for travelers arriving in the United States from another country.
