Does Disney do half day?

Unfortunately, there isn't an option to visit for a half or partial day. I would suggest that you consider adding another day to your existing ticket if a theme park reservation is available for the half-day you would like to visit.

Officially, Disney does not sell half-day tickets at Walt Disney World or Disneyland in 2026. A standard ticket is a "full-day" admission, regardless of whether you arrive at 8:00 AM or 4:00 PM. However, there are two unofficial "half-day" workarounds. The first is Special Event Tickets, such as "Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party" or "After Hours" events; these allow entry as early as 4:00 PM for an event that runs until midnight, effectively serving as a half-day ticket for a lower price than a standard day pass. The second is Convention Tickets, which are sometimes available to guests attending conferences at Disney resorts and offer admission after 1:00 PM or 5:00 PM. For the general public, the most flexible option is the "Park Hopper" add-on, which allows you to spend half your day in one park and the other half in another. If you only have a few hours, a 1-day ticket is a poor value, as the "per-day" cost of Disney tickets only significantly drops when you purchase a 4-to-10-day multi-day pass.

However, that has changed. You now can only park hop AFTER 2PM. So you'll have to wait until well after lunchtime if you're planning on visiting another park. However, this rule is different for Annual Passholders.

We'd say to spend two-thirds of your time at Disneyland Park and one-third at Disney California Adventure. Disneyland is bigger and has more rides and things to do. At holiday time, add an extra day or a half day at Disney California Adventure since there is so much to do in terms of added food and entertainment.

Expensive: Since the event is typically 3 hours long, then the cost per hour is much high compared to normal tickets. Animal Kingdom tends to be the park that needs the least amount of time to visit, but you could spend the back half of that day at Downtown Disney, which wouldn't use the hopper. Magic Kingdom is the main attraction and with it's high concentration of rides, I would recommend more time there than the other parks.

There's too much in the park to easily do in a single day. It's probably more of a one-and-a-half or two-day park. That said, this is a one day itinerary post, and there are a few approaches you can take to have one very good nearly perfect day at Magic Kingdom.

Between the rides, stage shows and other entertainment, there is a ton to see and do at Magic Kingdom and the pressure to experience everything can be anxiety-inducing, to say the least. Admittedly, to truly see and do it all at Magic Kingdom, you do need to spend at least two days.

We would recommend at least two full days at Disneyland park. This is true no matter if you're traveling with small children or as adults. That's why if you're not grabbing the Disney Genie+ service, we would recommend at least two days in Disneyland alone for the rides! This one park alone has a total of 58 rides.

MNSSHP and MVMCP are separately-ticketed, meaning that only those who purchased event tickets are able to stay in Magic Kingdom after 6 pm. (Those parties run until midnight.) In other words, the park stays open 4-5 hours later to regular guests when MNSSHP and MVMCP are not held.

Thanks for the question to planDisney! With your park ticket and a theme park reservation, you can enter, exit, and re-enter that primary park multiple times throughout the day. It is great if you want to leave the park to get some pool or nap time for your family back at your resort hotel.
