There's so much to see and do at Dollywood. Since you'll likely be there all day (or two), a backpack is probably one of the best bags to bring if you must bring something. As for the rush through the gate, we often see crowds from around 10 a.m. until about noon. The secret is to arrive early so you can be in line before that rush. Or, wait until early afternoon so you can capitalize on playtime while a lot of folks are looking for lunch.

Depending on when you come to Dollywood, weather in East Tennessee can change within a day or two. I suggest bringing light layers. Also, remember loose articles are not permitted on rides. It's great to wear pockets with zippers or bring a fanny pack to store small personal items.
there are large rides in each area, but again the layout makes it impossible to re-do several of your favorites with out having to walk forever. in a 10 hour span we walked almost 22,000 steps (9 miles). a tiring day to say the least.
