Does it cost money to see Niagara Falls?

It's always free to walk into Niagara Falls State Park to see the Falls, and it's open 365 days a year! What many people are happy to discover, however, is that along with this majestic natural wonder, the Niagara Falls tours and activities that you can enjoy inside the park provide hours of added fun!

It is completely free to view Niagara Falls from the public observation areas on both the American and Canadian sides. Niagara Falls State Park (USA) and Queen Victoria Park (Canada) are open to the public 24/7 without an entrance fee. You can walk right up to the "brink" of the falls and feel the mist on your face for $0. However, while the view is free, the nearby attractions and parking do cost money. If you want to get closer via the Maid of the Mist boat tour, the Journey Behind the Falls, or the Cave of the Winds, you will need to purchase individual tickets (typically $20–$30 per adult). Additionally, parking in the immediate vicinity of the falls can be expensive, often ranging from $10 to $35 depending on the lot's proximity and the time of year. For 2026 visitors, the "free" experience is still spectacular, as the parks offer miles of scenic walking trails and viewpoints.
