Does it cost money to take pictures with characters at Disney?

If you want the photo you'll need to pay for it, of course, but there is absolutely no cost to have them take your picture. And they still are happy to take your picture with your own camera, if you ask, and there is NEVER any cost for that.

Using Disney PhotoPass Get a Disney PhotoPass card from any Disney PhotoPass Photographer who takes your photo. Your card will have a unique ID that will be used to access your Disney PhotoPass photos. Register online to create a Disney account. Link your Disney PhotoPass card to your Disney account.

All of your account information is linked together. PhotoPass photographers will scan either your MagicBand, Disney PhotoPass card, theme park ticket, or Annual Pass. You can also access a QR code they can scan in the My Disney Experience App.
