Does King Cobra still exist?

King cobras live in northern India, east to southern China, including Hong Kong and Hainan; south throughout the Malay Peninsula and east to western Indonesia and the Philippines. They prefer streams in dense or open forest, bamboo thickets, adjacent agricultural areas and dense mangrove swamps.

No, the original King Cobra roller coaster at Kings Island no longer exists. It was a pioneering "Stand-up" coaster built by the Japanese company TOGO and opened in 1984 as the first of its kind in the United States. However, after TOGO went out of business in 2001, replacement parts became difficult and expensive to source. The ride was permanently closed at the end of the 2001 season and subsequently dismantled. Parts of its trains were sent to Kings Dominion to keep their similar coaster, Shockwave, operational for a few more years. Today, the site where King Cobra once stood at Kings Island is occupied by the Delirium frisbee ride and the Banshee inverted coaster. While the physical ride is gone, it remains a cult favorite among enthusiasts for its unique (and sometimes painful) "bicycle-style" standing restraints.
