Does Leap Card work on express bus?

You can use a TFI Leap Card to travel on all commuter & rural services operated by Bus Éireann and on TFI Local Link Louth Meath Fingal services in Dublin. You can also use your TFI Leap Card on selected commercial bus operators below: Swords Express (City centre to Swords)

I've heard the balance can go negative, up to 5 euro, for a single trip. If I have a 2 euro balance can I take airlink/747 to the airport at the end of my trip? It worked. You have to have 5c on you leap card to use it, it then goes into a negative balance.
