Yes, MagicBands and the newer MagicBand+ can be used to unlock your hotel room door, but this feature is currently exclusive to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. At Disney World, once you have linked your band to your "My Disney Experience" account and completed the online check-in process, you can simply tap the Mickey icon on the band against the reader on your room door to gain entry. This hands-free convenience is one of the primary selling points for staying "on-property" at a Disney resort. However, it is important to note that MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort in California does not currently support this feature. While Disneyland guests can use their bands to enter the parks and link PhotoPass photos, they must still use the "Unlock Door" feature within the Disneyland app or a physical Key to the World card to access their rooms at the Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, or Pixar Pier Hotel. Regardless of the location, you should always ensure your band is properly linked to your reservation and, for MagicBand+, that it has sufficient battery life, although the basic "tap" functions for door entry often work even if the interactive battery is low.
