Does Miami have commuter rail?

South Florida's only commuter rail system providing convenient transportation between the Greater Miami & Miami Beach area and West Palm Beach, with 18 stations throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Yes, Miami has a comprehensive and expanding commuter rail network in 2026. The cornerstone is the Tri-Rail system, which connects Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. This year marks a major milestone for the Northeast Corridor (Coastal Link), which utilizes the existing Brightline corridor to provide frequent commuter service between Miami Central Station and Aventura, with five new intermediate stations in Wynwood, the Design District, Little Haiti, North Miami Beach, and the FIU North Campus. Furthermore, Miami-Dade’s Metrorail (an elevated rapid transit system) provides critical North-South connectivity within the city, while the private Brightline offers a premium "inter-city" express experience to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando. In 2026, the integration between these systems has improved significantly, allowing for seamless transfers between the county-operated Metrorail and the regional Tri-Rail services.
