The Aiguille du Midi cable car holds the world record for the highest vertical ascent: 2807m (from 1035m to 3842m). This is the closest you can get to the Mont Blanc on a lift system. From here, there is no cable car to the summit of Mont Blanc.
All year round we recommend wearing warm clothes to visit the top of the Aiguille du Midi, sometimes the temperature will be more than 20ºC colder than the town centre so you'll need to wrap up even in summer.

Starting from the Aiguille du Midi station at 3842m, you climb via Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit to the summit. This is more technical than the Gouter Route and requires 1:1 guiding. The descent can be done the same way or via the Refuge du Gouter and down the Gouter Route to Les Houches.
