Does my 5 year old need a stroller at Disneyland?

While your little one may not use the stroller the entire time, it can be extremely helpful to have it on hand for when they need a break. If you're still not sold on the idea of bringing your own, an easy way to use a stroller only when you need it is by renting one from Disney!

While a 5-year-old may be "grown-up" at home, many parents find a stroller to be a "lifesaver" at Disneyland, where a typical guest walks between 8 to 12 miles per day. The sheer physical exhaustion of navigating crowds in the California sun can lead to "meltdowns" that a stroller can prevent by providing a portable "safe space" for rest or a nap. Additionally, a stroller serves as a convenient mobile locker for water bottles, snacks, and souvenirs. If you don't want to bring your own, Disneyland offers rental strollers for approximately $18 per day, though these are hard plastic and don't recline. A common strategy for 5-year-olds is to start the day without one and rent a stroller only when the "little legs" give out in the mid-afternoon. Remember that strollers must be parked in designated areas and are not allowed in ride queues, so your child will still be doing a fair amount of standing and walking regardless.
