Does my United status reset every year?

The expiration date for elite status is Jan. 31 each year. To ensure that you maintain your status from year to year, you will need to complete the PQF and PQP requirements for your status level.

Yes, your United MileagePlus status progress resets on January 1st of every year. To maintain or earn status for 2027, you must meet the high-value "Premier Qualifying" thresholds (PQF and PQP) between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2026. However, your current 2026 status—the one you earned in 2025—is valid through January 31, 2027, providing a one-month "buffer" period. To help you "jump-start" your 2026 goals, United often provides a "starter PQP deposit" for existing elites (e.g., 600 PQP for Gold members). Unless you have reached Million Miler status, which grants premier status for life, you must "re-earn" your wings annually by flying the required segments and spending the necessary dollars on United and its partners.
