In the Indian Railways ticketing system, RLWL (Remote Location Waiting List) does not transition into RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation). RLWL tickets are issued for intermediate stations (remote locations) between the originating and terminating stations. Unlike the General Waiting List (GNWL), which moves from Waitlisted to RAC and then to Confirmed (CNF) status, an RLWL ticket typically stays in the waiting list pool until it either becomes fully confirmed or remains waitlisted. RAC status is generally reserved for the GNWL pool to allow two passengers to share a single side-lower berth. If an RLWL ticket does not reach "Confirmed" status by the time the final chart is prepared, the passenger is not permitted to board the train. Because RLWL has a much smaller quota of seats than the general pool, the chances of confirmation are usually lower, and the lack of an RAC "middle ground" makes it a riskier booking for those needing guaranteed travel.
