On newer ships like the Star of the Seas or Icon of the Seas, the safe might even be cleverly integrated behind a mirror or in a hidden compartment, so you might need to look closely to find it. Most of these safes use an electronic combination lock system where you set your own 4-to-6-digit code. They are large enough to secure small electronics, passports, wallets, jewelry, and other travel documents. While the safes are generally very reliable, Royal Caribbean recommends that guests do not store extremely high-value items that exceed the safe's security level.
