As of 2026, Kings Island is owned and operated by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. This is the result of a massive "merger of equals" between Cedar Fair (the previous owner) and Six Flags, which was officially completed on July 1, 2024. While the two companies were longtime rivals, they combined into a single entity valued at $8 billion to better compete with Disney and Universal. Although the newly formed parent company decided to use the "Six Flags" name for the corporate brand, Kings Island has retained its original name and individual identity. You can now use a "six-star" or "Gold" level pass to access both traditional Six Flags parks and former Cedar Fair properties like Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Knott's Berry Farm, creating the largest amusement park network in North America.
