The Ark Encounter like many attractions is more busy during the weekends. If possible visit during the weekdays. But if you cannot weekends are fine. We visited on Memorial Day weekend 2023 and although it was busy in some areas the crowds were able to spread out to the many attractions.

The two locations are just under an hour away from each other so it would be tricky to do both in one day. Seeing the actually size of the ark in person is really impressive and awe inspiring.

Helpful? There is an outdoor portion to the encounter, but that is mainly the walk from the tour bus to the Ark. There is a petting zoo outside as well. The entirety of the Ark tour is indoors and it's air conditioned.

Went on a family trip to the Ark, our group includes kids as young as 4 and old as 16. The Ark itself is impressive in its size and it is beautiful with accurate information throughout. I would recommend everyone go at least once but not with younger kids. There is a lot of long slow moving lines and lots of reading.
