Does TSA PreCheck expire?

TSA PreCheck® memberships last five years.

Yes, TSA PreCheck enrollment expires five years after the date your application is approved and your Known Traveler Number (KTN) is issued. As of early 2026, the TSA recommends that members begin the renewal process approximately six months before their expiration date to avoid any lapse in service, though you cannot renew more than six months in advance. For most travelers, the renewal can be completed entirely online without a second in-person interview, provided your biometrics on file are still valid and your legal name hasn't changed. Once renewed, your status is extended for another five-year term. If you allow it to expire, you will lose access to the expedited security lanes and must undergo the standard screening process until a new application is fully processed and approved.

Once that's done and enough time has passed so that it's fully in the airline's system (a few days, it's not immediate), that should trigger the appearance of the pre-check status on your boarding pass.
