Does Uber take payment before?

We don't, in order to request an Uber you must have a credit card attached to your account. When you request a ride the charge for the ride comes automatically out of that card. A rider can refuse to pay that charge (by declining the charge with the cc company or bank) but that has little to no effect on the drivers.
