As of 2026, United Airlines Premier 1K status does not grant automatic access to United Club lounges for purely domestic flights within the United States. This is a common point of confusion for frequent flyers; while 1K is a top-tier status, United (along with Delta and American) generally requires a separate lounge membership or a premium cabin ticket for domestic club entry. However, 1K members do receive lounge access when traveling on a qualifying international itinerary. Because Premier 1K status carries "Star Alliance Gold" designation, these members can access United Clubs and Star Alliance partner lounges (like the Lufthansa Senator Lounge) when departing on any international Star Alliance flight, regardless of their class of service. Additionally, 1K members are often given a set of "Choice Benefits" which can include a discounted United Club membership or one-time passes. For the most premium experience, such as the United Polaris Lounge, even a 1K member must be flying in a long-haul international Polaris Business Class cabin; status alone, no matter how high, is not enough to enter a Polaris Lounge.
