Does Virgin America still exist?

Alaska Airlines and Virgin America are now one airline. Whether you've flown on Alaska for years or traveled on Virgin America flights – we're proud to be your West Coast airline with lower fares, better service, and sweeter rewards.

No, Virgin America no longer exists as an independent airline. It was acquired by Alaska Airlines in 2016 in a deal valued at approximately $2.6 billion. The two airlines began integrating their operations shortly thereafter, and the Virgin America brand was officially retired in April 2018. The final Virgin America revenue flight took off on April 24, 2018, from San Francisco to Los Angeles. While the stylish mood lighting and sleek cabin aesthetics that made Virgin America famous were initially maintained by Alaska Airlines, the aircraft have since been repainted in Alaska’s blue and white livery, and the unique "Red" entertainment system was replaced. Today, the spirit of the airline lives on through Alaska’s expanded West Coast presence, but the iconic "VX" flight code and the signature Virgin brand have completely disappeared from U.S. domestic skies.
