How big are the drops at Expedition Everest?

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, also known as Expedition Everest, is a steel roller coaster built by Vekoma at Disney's Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The ride is themed around the Yeti protecting the Forbidden Mountain next to Mount Everest.

Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom features a signature 80-foot (24-meter) main drop. While the mountain itself stands nearly 200 feet tall, the actual "plunge" that guests experience occurs after the train encounters the "broken track" and spirals backward through the mountain. The 80-foot drop is the largest in the ride and occurs at a 50-degree angle, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h). Beyond the main drop, the ride includes several smaller dips and a high-speed "double-helix" turn that exerts significant G-forces. It is a "high-thrill" attraction with no inversions, but the combination of the backward segment and the 80-foot drop makes it one of the most intense coasters at Walt Disney World. Because of these elements, guests must be at least 44 inches tall to ride, and the attraction uses a sturdy lap-bar restraint system to keep riders secure during the high-altitude Himalayan adventure.
