Upgrading on Air Canada in 2026 is most commonly done via AC Bid Extension or eUpgrades. The Bid Extension program allows you to offer a specific dollar amount for an upgrade 48 hours before your flight; you'll be notified if your bid is accepted. If you have Aeroplan Elite Status, you can use eUpgrade Credits through the Air Canada app or website, with the "upgrade window" opening anywhere from 2 to 14 days out depending on your status level. You can also use Aeroplan Points to secure a "Last-Minute Upgrade" at the airport kiosk or check-in counter if seats are available. For those without status or points, "Standby Upgrades" are occasionally offered at a fixed cash price during the 24-hour check-in window. Note that the original fare class must be eligible; "Economy Basic" tickets are generally excluded from all upgrade paths.
