How close are EPCOT and Magic Kingdom?

Driving from the Magic Kingdom to EPCOT entails taking the Monorail, a watercraft, or about a 30-minute walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center (where the Magic Kingdom's Parking lot is located), then driving the 4+ miles to EPCOT.

Geographically, EPCOT and Magic Kingdom are located approximately 4 miles apart within the Walt Disney World resort. While they look close on a map, they are separated by the Seven Seas Lagoon, several resort hotels, and a network of canals. In 2026, the most iconic way to travel between them is via the Walt Disney World Monorail System, which requires a transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). The total travel time, including the transfer, usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. If you are driving your own vehicle, the trip takes about 10–15 minutes, but you must factor in the time to park and take a tram. Interestingly, even though they are only a few miles apart, they feel quite distant because the "Monorail Loop" provides a scenic, slow-paced journey that offers views of the Contemporary and Polynesian resorts, effectively keeping the two distinct themed worlds from "bleeding" into each other visually.
