How common is leptospirosis in Hawaii?

Leptospirosis is endemic worldwide, but the majority of infections occur in the tropical regions with Hawai'i reporting the highest incidence of human cases in the United States. The Hawai'i Department of Health reported 345 cases to the CDC in Hawai'i with 198 cases confirmed from 1999–2008.
