Officially, Delta SkyMiles cannot be directly converted to cash through Delta Air Lines. The program is designed for redemptions on flights, seat upgrades, and vacation packages. However, there are unofficial third-party "mileage brokers" (such as MilesBuyer or SellMyMiles) that allow you to "sell" your miles for cash. These brokers typically require a minimum balance (often 40,000 to 50,000 miles) and pay out via PayPal or bank transfer at a rate of roughly 0.8 to 1.5 cents per mile. It is important to be aware that selling your miles is a violation of Delta's Terms and Conditions; if caught, Delta can close your account and forfeit all your points. A safer way to "cash out" is to use miles to purchase gift cards via the Delta SkyMiles Marketplace, though the value per mile is generally much lower (often less than 0.7 cents). For most travelers, the best "cash value" is achieved by using the "Pay with Miles" feature if you have a Delta SkyMiles credit card, which allows you to reduce the price of a cash ticket by $50 for every 5,000 miles, effectively giving them a fixed 1-cent value.
