Great question! Downloading your Railcard to the Trainline app is a straightforward process. Here’s how to do it, depending on whether you bought your Railcard from Trainline directly or from another retailer (like National Rail).

If You Bought Your Railcard Directly from Trainline:

This is the easiest scenario. Your Railcard is automatically linked to your Trainline account and should appear in the app.

  1. Log In: Open the Trainline app and ensure you’re logged into the account you used to purchase the Railcard.
  2. Go to ‘My Tickets’: Tap the “My Tickets” tab (usually the ticket icon at the bottom).
  3. Find ‘Railcards’: Look for a section called “Railcards” or “Discount Cards”. Tap on it.
  4. It Should Be There: Your digital Railcard should be visible here. You can tap on it to view the QR code that ticket inspectors will scan.

If it’s not there: Try pulling down to refresh the screen. If it still doesn’t appear, contact Trainline customer support for help.

If You Bought Your Railcard from Another Retailer (e.g., National Rail):

You need to link an existing digital Railcard to your Trainline account. You must already have your Railcard downloaded in the official Railcard app (the one with a blue icon, simply called “Railcard”).

  1. Open the Trainline App and go to ‘My Tickets’ > ‘Railcards’.
  2. Tap “Add a Railcard”.
