How do I get from one village to another in Cinque Terre?

The train is definitely the most used, fast and convenient way to visit the Cinque Terre. Thanks to the Cinque Terre Express, there is a train approximately every 20 minutes that connects La Spezia and Levanto, and the journey time is very minimal, 2 to 5 minutes between one village and the next.

If you want a much easier hike, definitely hike from Vernazza to Monterosso (and not vice versa). The trail is much easier and Monterosso has the best beach of all five villages — so you can relax on the beach after your hike! Be sure to bring water and snacks on your hike!

You definately DO NOT need a guide. If you only have one day, Monterosso is the largest town and this is where you should go. If you plan a full day, I would recommend to hike to the next town (Vernazza). It's about an hour and a half, and sooooo beautiful!

There really is no better location - The towns are all very near each other, and very accessible by train, boat or trek. Vernazza is the more popular destination and probably more touristy, so Manarola may better suit you.
