In April 2025, British Airways shifted to a revenue-based loyalty model, making 2026 the first full year under the "British Airways Club" system. To earn Gold Status in 2026, you must accumulate 20,000 Tier Points within a fixed membership year (April 1 to March 31). Under the new system, you generally earn 1 Tier Point per £1 spent on eligible BA flights. This means a direct spend of roughly £20,000 is the standard path. However, there are "2026 Workarounds": you can earn up to 2,500 bonus Tier Points by hitting spending targets on the BA Premium Plus Amex (£25k spend = 2,500 TPs), and you earn automatic "flight bonuses" based on cabin class (e.g., a return First Class flight earns a 1,100 TP bonus). You can also earn points by purchasing "Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)" credits or booking BA Holidays, which often offer double Tier Points. While the traditional "tier point run" is mostly dead, frequent premium cabin flyers in 2026 can still reach Gold with a net spend closer to £12,000–£15,000 by stacking these bonuses.
