Here's how it works
- Open your Uber app. Set your pickup and dropoff location in the app.
- Find the Car Seat option. Scroll through the list of available vehicle types and select Car Seat.
- Request. A $10 car seat surcharge will be applied to your total price.
If you're using your Uber account for the Uber family profiles for your children to request a ride, they must still be accompanied by an adult to be allowed to ride.

Unaccompanied minors can only use Uber via an approved teen profile in an eligible city. So in any areas that doesn't have UberX Teen or teen profiles, riders under 18 can't use Uber alone. Minors can't request rides, and minors can't ride alone in an Uber even if a parent or guardian says that they requested the ride.

My favorite tip: Use a large plastic lawn bag (find them at Home Depot or any other home improvement store) to contain the car seat. You can take it a step further and wrap the seat in bubble wrap for extra padding and reuse it on the return trip.

Please stop requesting rides for your children under 18. It is against the TOS you agreed to when you joined the app. We are not licensed nor insured to transport minors. Uber's lax background checks mostly just look for driving related infractions and may not catch all previous criminal activity.

When a trip request comes from a teen account: The teen is allowed to bring other riders with them, but they must be 13 years old or older. Guest riders aged 13 to 17 must say that they have permission from a parent or legal guardian. All teens have to sit in the back seat and should buckle up.

Once your child is 2 years old, you'll need to purchase a seat for them. The FAA recommends that children under 40 pounds continue to use a car seat and that children over 40 pounds use the seat belt on the airplane seat.

Therefore, if you find yourself in a taxi with your toddler but no car seat, put the child in his own seat belt. Pull the seat belt snug and try to make sure the lap portion of the belt is resting very low and very snug on the tops of the child's thighs.
