How do I pay my Vancouver Canada Line?

TICKETS. Canada Line uses the Compass ticketing system, comprising single-use paper tickets or stored value plastic cards called Compass Cards. You can buy these at station vending machines, paying via cash, credit, or debit.

Paying for the Canada Line in Vancouver is exceptionally flexible in 2026. You can use a Compass Card (available at vending machines), which you "tap in" and "tap out" to have the correct fare automatically deducted. If you don't want to buy a dedicated card, you can use Contactless Payment by tapping any Interac Debit, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card—including those on your smartphone via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay—directly at the fare gates. Note that while there is no "Compass App" for tapping, you can manage your card balance online. If you are starting your journey from the airport (YVR), a $5 "AddFare" supplement is automatically added to all single-trip tickets and Compass Card Stored Value payments.
