To remove yourself from Airbnb, you have a few options depending on whether you want to delete your account permanently or just deactivate it temporarily.
Here’s a step-by-step guide for both:
This action is irreversible. All your data (trips, messages, listings, reviews) will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
Steps to delete: 1. Log in to your Airbnb account on a web browser (this cannot be done in the mobile app). 2. Go to Account Settings (click your profile picture in the top-right corner). 3. Select Account from the menu. 4. Click “Close your account” or “Delete your account”. 5. Airbnb will ask for your reason (optional) and show a final warning. 6. Confirm by clicking “Permanently delete” or similar.
Note: If you have upcoming trips or hosting reservations, you must cancel them first. Outstanding payments or unresolved issues will also need to be settled.
This hides your profile and listings but retains your data so you can reactivate later.
Steps to deactivate: 1. Follow steps 1–4 above. 2. Instead of “Delete,” look for “Deactivate your account”. 3. Choose a reason and confirm.
You can reactivate by logging back in.
If you’re concerned about privacy but may use Airbnb again: - Go to Privacy & sharing in settings. - Adjust visibility settings. - Delete specific personal info (profile photo, bio, etc.). - Unsubscribe from marketing emails separately.
If you encounter issues, contact Airbnb Support: - Visit the Help Center → Contact Us. - Use the chat or phone support option.
Once your account is closed, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
