How do I remove myself from Airbnb?

Removing yourself as a Co-Host
  1. Go to Listings and select the applicable listing.
  2. Click Co-Hosts and select yourself.
  3. Click Remove yourself.
  4. Add an optional note for the listing owner and click Yes, remove me.

To remove yourself from Airbnb, you have a few options depending on whether you want to delete your account permanently or just deactivate it temporarily.

Here’s a step-by-step guide for both:

Option 1: Permanently Delete Your Account

This action is irreversible. All your data (trips, messages, listings, reviews) will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Steps to delete: 1. Log in to your Airbnb account on a web browser (this cannot be done in the mobile app). 2. Go to Account Settings (click your profile picture in the top-right corner). 3. Select Account from the menu. 4. Click “Close your account” or “Delete your account”. 5. Airbnb will ask for your reason (optional) and show a final warning. 6. Confirm by clicking “Permanently delete” or similar.

Note: If you have upcoming trips or hosting reservations, you must cancel them first. Outstanding payments or unresolved issues will also need to be settled.

Option 2: Deactivate Your Account Temporarily

This hides your profile and listings but retains your data so you can reactivate later.

Steps to deactivate: 1. Follow steps 1–4 above. 2. Instead of “Delete,” look for “Deactivate your account”. 3. Choose a reason and confirm.

You can reactivate by logging back in.

Option 3: Remove Personal Data Without Deleting Account

If you’re concerned about privacy but may use Airbnb again: - Go to Privacy & sharing in settings. - Adjust visibility settings. - Delete specific personal info (profile photo, bio, etc.). - Unsubscribe from marketing emails separately.

Important Considerations Before Deleting:

  • Cancel upcoming reservations first to avoid penalties.
  • Resolve any pending payments or disputes.
  • Download your data if you want a record (go to Privacy & sharingRequest your data).
  • If you’re a host, ensure all bookings are resolved and payouts are complete.
